Step Nine – Working the COSA Ninth Step

Plural words, like we and our, pepper the Steps; these words indicate we are not alone in our recovery. Step Nine insists that we lean on our sponsor, co-sponsor, or temporary sponsor as much as or more than ever. As we worked Step Nine, we found that the experience, strength, and hope of others in recovery were essentialeven imperative. Those who came before us helped us to make clean, clear amends while avoiding the potential pitfalls of this Step such as making amends too soon, or without sufficient spiritual preparation. Many sponsors ask that their sponsees consult them before making an amends.
