1995-16 1995 Closing Ceremonies – Arnold D. of SAA & Ila D. of COSA (MP3)
$3.00
Arnold and Ila had both been married previously and had children. In this recording, they each tell their stories. Arnold’s acting out caused harm to him and to his family. He almost ended up in prison. In recovery, he learned to take pleasure in service, instead of acting out. Ila’s family of origin included rage and codependency. She learned to make sure the family looked good. In recovery, she began to face her own pain and shame. Ila reminds us not to compare ourselves to others, and particularly not to compare how bad our problems are. Addiction, and relationships with addicts, are painful and comparisons don’t help us heal.
